Sandwich Bread
Ingredients
2 cups |
Warm Water |
1/2 cup |
Sugar |
1 1/2 Tbsp |
Active Dry Yeast |
1 1/2 tsp |
Salt |
1/4 cup |
Vegetable Oil |
5-6 cups |
Flour |
Directions
- In mixing bowl, dissolve sugar in warm water then stir in yeast. Allow to proof until yeast is foamy.
- Mix salt and oil into the yeast.
- Mix in flour one cup at a time - go slowly after the 5th cup to get the right consistency (might not take all 6 cups).
- Knead dough for 7 minutes.
- Put dough in well oiled bowl and let rise until doubled in size.
- Punch dough down. Knead for 1 minute, divide in half, shape into loaves and place into well oiled 9x5 bread pans.
- Bake at 350° for 30-40 minutes. Keep an eye on it after 30 minutes.
Notes:
- - Use less sugar - 1/4 cup or less.
- - About 5 1/2 cups of flour worked best (so add it slowly after the 5th cup).
